ISLAMABAD: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has granted PTCL permission to acquire Telenor Pakistan.
A PTCL spokesperson said that PTCL is grateful to the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) for successfully completing the second phase of its regulatory review and approving the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan.
A PTCL spokesperson added that we welcome the Commission’s comprehensive efforts to ensure the future and long-term sustainability of Pakistan’s telecom sector. We are also deeply grateful to our customers, partners and all those associated with the country’s telecom sector who have been waiting for this historic decision.
The spokesperson said that PTCL fully cooperated with the Commission throughout the review process and we reiterate our commitment that the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan will be carried out in accordance with the instructions of all regulatory bodies and in full compliance with all applicable laws of the country.
PTCL says that this merger is a significant milestone for Pakistan’s telecom industry, which will combine the combined strengths of PTML (Ufone) and Telenor to provide customers with the best telecom services, standard network quality, wide coverage and modern digital facilities.
The spokesperson said that this merger will promote more efficiency, strong infrastructure and a better competitive environment in the sector. Furthermore, the new entity created by the merger of the two entities will play a key role in strengthening nationwide connectivity, promoting innovation and advancing the Government of Pakistan’s Digital Pakistan vision.
