‘The most painful thing was,’ How did Bollywood stars overcome depression?
Mental health issues can affect anyone, and showbiz personalities are no exception. In recent years, many Bollywood stars have shared their experiences of going through depression, trauma and other such issues.
These actors include famous Bollywood stars, who, when seen on screen, do not think that they may have also suffered from depression. However, their stories certainly encourage a common person.
According to the Times of India, at the peak of her career, Deepika Padukone revealed that she was suffering from depression. She had said, ‘It was the most painful thing I went through, but today I am fine, so I think this experience made me a better person. I learned a lot from this and it enabled me to do something better for others.
Similarly, Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan has also shared his experiences with mental anxiety and depression.
Shah Rukh Khan was in grief for many years after the death of his parents in his youth. In several interviews, he talked about the phases of depression and then getting rid of it by engaging in work. He turned to cinema as therapy and expressed his emotions through his characters.
Anushka Sharma says that mental illness is also a reality like physical illness. She also admitted in an interview that she had gone to a doctor for treatment of the disease and got help.
She still speaks openly on the subject of mental health and has taken many steps in this regard through her production house.
Hrithik Roshan suffered from depression silently for many years. However, at one point, he admitted that he remained ‘indifferent’ to many things in his personal and professional life. Through exercise and therapy, he created a balance in his life. Today, he tries to make people talk openly about his mental health.
Varun Dhawan suffered from depression during the shooting of the film ‘Badlapur’ but he ignored it. But later he admitted that he was depressed due to the workload.
He said, ‘I was depressed. I used to be very sad. It is a serious disease that affected my mental health and I consulted a doctor.’
After suffering from ovarian cancer, Manisha Koirala went into depression due to the disease and personal life problems.
Manisha Koirala, while expressing her thoughts, said, After suffering from cancer, I understand how the body and mind are affected. I still feel depression. When I was doing the film ‘Heera Mandi’, I was also depressed at that time. I didn't think I could do this film.
The film producers understood this and after 12 hours of shooting, we would take breaks.
She stabilized herself emotionally through therapy, spirituality and the help of others.
Kangana Ranaut:
Kangana Ranaut faced depression during her relationship and also suffered from loneliness while gaining fame. She overcame the disease through therapy and yoga.
Similarly, Honey Singh suddenly disappeared after reaching the peak of his music career and later revealed that he was suffering from bipolar disorder and had been undergoing treatment for several years.
She said, 'In this disease, your mind is not under control. You keep dreaming while awake. I used to be afraid of seeing my maid that she would laugh at me, sometimes I thought she was cleaning blood from the floor. It was a strange feeling. I saw hell.'
