Pakistan has announced to hold a major regional conference under the Silk Way Forum to increase regional trade volume.
A roundtable conference of ministers from 12 countries on transport was held under the New Silk Way Forum in Kazakhstan, in which Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan represented Pakistan.
Addressing the conference, Abdul Aleem Khan said that member countries will have to focus on establishing trade corridors to promote mutual connectivity and trade, as increasing land connectivity has become the need of the hour to increase trade volume.
The Federal Minister for Communications said that increasing the number of air flights is also essential to achieve the objectives of the Silk Way so that the business community and citizens of these countries can travel as much as possible. He announced that a Regional Transport Ministers Conference will be held in Islamabad on October 23 and 24 and all member countries have been invited to participate.
Abdul Aleem Khan said that Central Asian states are gateways for Pakistan and regional cooperation can improve the economy and means of communication. He said that the recent visit of the Vice President and Ministers of Kazakhstan proved to be very beneficial for Pakistan, while this forum is providing an opportunity to learn from each other's experiences.
The host of the conference, Minister of Transport Nurlan Soranbayev, in his address, expressed his goodwill towards Pakistan and hoped for positive outcomes of the forum.
