High fruit consumption may reduce the effects of air pollution on the lungs Research

A new study suggests that eating more fruit can reduce the effects of air pollution on the lungs.

According to the University of Leicester, the reduction in the effects of pollution may be due to the antioxidants naturally present in these fruits.

A study conducted on more than 200,000 people found that those who ate more fruit per day had a clear effect on women.

The researchers said that men were generally found to eat less fruit than women, which explains why the protective effects were greater in women.

Discussing the research, Sarah Slate, chief executive of the charity Asthma + Lung UK, said that we know that a diet rich in fruit improves lung function, but this study has revealed something interesting: these fruits can also act against the effects of air pollution.
