Fine recovered from PIA after years

Islamabad (INP) The Competition Commission has recovered a fine of Rs 10 million from PIA.

The special powers to freeze PIA’s account were used. The Competition Commission had imposed a fine of Rs 10 million on PIA in 2009, which was imposed for an 80 percent increase in Hajj fares in 2008. PIA had sought a stay order from the court against the Competition Commission’s order.

The CCP says that the Supreme Court had referred the matter to the Competition Appellate Tribunal, which dismissed the appeal due to the continued non-compliance of PIA’s lawyer. After the appeal was dismissed, the Competition Commission recovered the fine from PIA.
