A Mumbai court has issued a bailable arrest warrant for Indian film star and dancer Malaika Arora.

According to showbiz news website ‘Koi Moi’, the court has re-issued a bailable warrant against Malaika Arora for her continuous absence as a witness in the 2012 Saif Ali Khan hotel attack case.

A Mumbai magistrate court yesterday issued bailable warrants against Malaika Arora and others for their continuous absence as a witness in the 2012 hotel attack case against Saif Ali Khan.

The court has also sought a report regarding the bailable warrant by the end of this month.

Yesterday, all the accused, including Saif Ali Khan, had requested exemption from appearance, the court had approved the application.

Malaika Arora was earlier given time to appear in court but she remained absent, following which the court directed to reissue a bailable warrant of five thousand Indian rupees against the actress.

It should be noted that earlier, bailable warrants were also issued against the actress on March 15. Malaika Arora’s sister and actress Amrita Arora and her friend Farrukh Wadia were also issued warrants of five thousand Indian rupees.

What is the Saif Ali Khan case?

It all started on February 22, 2012, when Saif Ali Khan was attending a dinner at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, where he was accompanied by Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora and others.

It is said that an unpleasant incident occurred when they all had a heated argument with South African businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma, who was attending another dinner there.

Allegedly, there was an argument between Iqbal Mir Sharma and the actors which later turned into a fight.

The overseas businessman maintained that apart from him, his father-in-law Raman Patel was also tortured by the group.

As a result, Saif Ali Khan and two of his friends were arrested under sections 325 and 34 of the IPC, but all three were later released on bail.

What is Malaika Arora's connection with the case?

Malaika Arora was a key witness in the fight and her statement is important in reconstructing the sequence of events.

She was not included as an accused party in the initial report and subsequent court proceedings. According to The Times of India, the case is before Chief Judicial Magistrate KS Zanoor.

The next hearing of the case is scheduled for April 29, 2025, according to the report.
